Evidence of the cause of failure of a tree is vital and all parts of the tree and surroundings should be kept as intact as possible until an Arboriculturalist records his/her findings.

 Such evidence is crucial particularly if a dispute arises and necessitates a report.   A report from a qualified Arboriculturalist is beneficial to either party in a dispute.  

 Unfortunately today we live in a contentious society and while it is important that all tree owners protect themselves from being sued by having written documentation of a tree-health check carried out periodically, trees do not always conform to what we might expect of them and they can fail.  This is where the expertise of an Arboriculturalist is vital to any legal proceedings.
