High Hedge Reports

        HIGH HEDGES

The legislation which governs the height of a hedge is the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003.

  •  You can approach the Local authority to have a hedge reduced in height but note they do charge a fee.
  •  Consequently your neighbour may be issued with a Remedial Notice to reduce the height of the hedge.
  •  If your neighbour refuses to reduce the height, they could be prosecuted and fined up to £1,000.

There are provisos however, as the complainant, you must endeavour to seek to resolve the issue direct with your neighbours first.  But sometimes, this is difficult.

We can offer ourselves as independent mediators if you find it difficult to approach your neighbour about the height of a hedge.
